Weekly Roundup

http://www.facebook.com/culturefix?sk=app_4949752878

Food This Week: Enchilades Verde with roast pork and queso cotijo and BBQ Platter

Didn’t get a chance to get down on last Sunday’s BBQ at CULTUREfix? Get a taste of what you missed. Sweet and tangy St. Louis Ribs (99¢) and $1 trimmings…collards, potato salad and baked beans. Slam some ribs with our new wines.

Beer of the Week:
Leipziger Gose

La Brasserie des A real favorite of CULTUREfix.  Gose beer is a German spring and summer ale.  Referred to as a “spiced beer”, Goses are traditionally brewed with corriander, citrus and salt. Thank god it’s spring!

Cheese of the Week: Arzua Ulloa

Produced from cow’s milk in Galicia, northwestern Spain, Arzúa Ulloa is a DOP (name protected) cheese that is sometimes referred to as “queixo do pays,” meaning “cheese from the land”.  Flavors of clean, fresh lactic notes and buttermilk best describe this cheese.  Would go great with our new Viognier.

New Wines at CultureFix:

  • Domaine de vedilhan viognier vin de pay d’oc 2009 $8: A clean and vibrant viognier. Peaches and wild flowers define this wine. Much lighter than most viognier. This crisp viognier comes from the sandy soil of the languedoc region.

  • Nicodemi Trebbiano d’Abruzzo $7: Trebbiano grapes are one of Italy’s most harvested grapes. This production has great sour apple and light honey notes…. an easy chugger from Southern Italy’s Adriatic coast.

Art Musings:

Urban Art:
Not necessarily urban, but if you have not seen it yet, go see Punchdrunk’s “Sleep No More” in Chelsea.  Running only for a few more weeks, this immersive theater experience will be one of the coolest things you have ever seen.

Art Fact:
Get a beer, go to the gallery, and lay on the floor.  We installed black felt in the gallery this week for “Kodra’s Eye”, a video installation by ga.be (showing on thursday and friday of this week at sundown).  This way you’ll be comfy watching the video on the ceiling.  Make sure to come by Thursday and Friday to check it out!

Next week we install our next exhibition “Job, Barcelowsky, and Burris- Obsessive Drawings”  Put the opening date April 22nd on your calendars!

Cherry Blossoms and
Beer: If you read last week’s newsletter, you know that the cherry blossoms are out on Clinton Street and there is free beer to celebrate.  Come tell us how beautiful they are and we’ll buy you a beer!

Summer is upon us and day drink is fun again.  Don’t forget about CULTUREfix’s happy hour.  $2 butternut brewery cans!  GET SUM!
